COLD, DRAFTY HOME...

Shavon F. Chicago Worth every penny!! Scott spent countless hours on the phone answering all of my questions as I debated spending the money to audit and fix my drafty house. He even honestly helped me compare offers from other companies and matched them. He and Gary personally came to conduct the audit. They arrived promptly, even in the snowstorm. They depressurized the house, took countless readings, and even walked around with me a second time so I could read the thermal instrument and feel where my house was leaky. They spent several hours at my house and were contentious about leaving it as clean as it was when they arrived. They took time to explain everything they we're doing and why. About a week after they left, I received a couple 20-page detailed reports of all of their findings. Again, Scott spent time on the phone walking me through each report and answering all of my follow-up questions via email. Although the reports detailed ALL the work I could do to completely seal and weatherproof my home, Scott was very realistic and aware of my budget. He prioritized the work that would have the greatest impact on my home and suggested the most cost-effective ways of getting done. He encouraged me to take the report and get estimates from other contractors before making a decision. While other quotes were a little cheaper, they did not offer the same level of service or guarantees as Energy Men. Not only did I hire them to do the suggested work of sealing my home and insulating the attic and basement, I added an another job in my addition. Scott has stayed in contact to discuss the other parts of the report that I wasn't able to do. I am completely satisfied with my energy audit. I wish I had done it the moment I purchased my house!

Now onto the actual work performed by the EnergyMen. They sealed all of the cracks, crevices, openings, and windows in my home. They blew in R50+ of cellulose insullation in my attic and the ceiling of my addition. On the first day, Gary arrived with the crew - early. He walked around with the workers, Miguel and his crew, to explain everything that needed to be done. He then double-checked all of the details with me. After that, Miguel and his crew arrived promptly every day and worked hard all day - sometimes skipping lunch :(. They were very, very clean, courteous, and respectful of my home. They arrived before I left for work, or came in through a back entrance left open for them. I was able to trust them completely while I was away. Miguel called me during the day if there were any questions or concerns. Usually they were there when I got home in the evening and Miguel took time to show me everything they accomplished that day. On days they ended early, they cleaned up,locked my home, set my alarm, and called me at work to discuss what they completed. They even worked weekends, and changed a couple light bulbs for me while they were on ladders in my high-ceiling addition :). They finished quickly. I hardly knew they were there. And I was kinda sad to see them leave. Gary returned for a final inspection. Scott called to check on my satisfaction periodically and emailed me monthly to check on my utility bills. He also continued to make suggestions about other things I could do to lower my utility costs and referred me to other contractors to do additional work they don't do, i.e., HVAC to add a humidifier. The results were dramatic and instant! My house was warmer, I ran my furnace less, I was much more comfortable, and my utility bills decreased significantly. Afterwards, Scott even helped me find and apply for the various rebates and tax credits that applied to the work they did - one for $850 that I didn't even know about. And 6 months later, Scott still contacts me to make sure I am satisfied. I plan to call Energy Men again to complete more work from my energy audit and continuously upgrade my home.
