One Amazing Home: Check it Out at `Four Thick Walls’
As was noted last week, we had the pleasure of collaborating two weeks ago with Oak Park students and the Chicago Center for Green Technology.
Included in that update was brief mention of two homes we visited in Oak Park, where we measured the relative energy efficiency via a thermographic imaging device. One of those homes is owned by Longfellow Elementary School teacher Sandra Flowers; the other is the Chris residence, a bungalow that is at the heart of a must-visit blog called Four Thick Walls.
As the blog’s catch-phrase pithily notes: “One house, one family, no furnace.”
The inspiring blog chronicles the family’s dedicated effort to transform a deteriorated space into an energy-efficient model that derives its heat from appliances, electrial devices, body heat and sunlight. We’re honored that a visit from a group of six Brooks Middle School students, as well as EnergyMen’s Scott Grafft, is included in the Jan. 31 post.
