How Do You Engage Youngsters’ Minds? Show-and-Tell Helps
Over the past few months, EnergyMen has enjoyed sharing some cool information with Oak Park students about the world around us that is so rarely seen—the flow of air through windows and walls, for example.
With this post, we want to share a vignette of the power of this show-and-tell approach to education. It’s from Scott Grafft’s trip to the Longfellow Elementary School classroom on January 5th, and one of the many scenes that day that captivated students.
Disclaimer: we’re not claiming Scott is so remarkable (though he is a pretty cool, very bright and entertaining guy).
The point is that with the enthusiastic support and leadership of teachers like Phyllis Frick (Brooks Middle School) and Sandra Flowers (Longfellow), we’ve been able to provide a real-world show-and-tell experience that enables students to make the connection between what they’re learning today and what they could be doing, down the road, as they embark on their careers.
